Me and my team worked to create Recollection

A VR game in Unity about an artist dealing with trauma

I was the technical designer on the project, creating the central game mechanic of painting your environment to unveil repressed memories, several other unique VR interactions, I did all the tech art work of creating a watercolor shader, and I created a system for and implemented all the narrative and audio sequencing using Fmod.

This was my first attempt at developing a transformational game and we took on the difficult subject of trauma. We worked with a psychologist to ensure we were accurately representing the symptoms. I had the difficult task of trying to depict this real life experience while creating a compelling gameplay experience and depicting it artistically. I had to toe the line between visually pleasing and easy to understand and not misrepresenting the reality of this condition.

We have been submitting this game to multiple transformational games conferences, we were accepted into Serious Play 2024 and have more conferences upcoming

I try to learn a new skill on every project I work on, for this one it was taking on tech art and shader duties. Through the project I learned HLSL and had a crash course in look dev.
